The team leader is the one who needs to deploy their own time and energy and find the best strategy in order to enable the team to achieve its full potential.

Once you know the root of the problem that's holding your team back, you can start working on implementing a solution. Of course, it may be difficult, so chances are you'll need a well-prepared and clear action plan. What will you need?

Honest communication: You must make it clear what the issue is, so that everyone understands what challenges need to be tackled. Hard truths are difficult to hear, but it's necessary.

Explain to your colleagues what the common goals are, and how you're going to reach them. Also explain why achieving those goals is important for everyone. Provide a vision to your team and inspire everyone.

Examine the processes and procedures that are used in your organization. Infrastructure and internal structures are very often a part of the problem. Remove any procedural obstacles that are in place.

Create a tactical action plan for each project. All employees should have a list of things they need to do.

Don’t focus on individual performance. You need to assess the team as a whole. That way, the workers can develop the right synergies.

Follow up and hold people accountable. You need to lay down a follow-up process. Regular reassessment is necessary to see how the team is doing and what obstacles remain to be removed.
