What undermines your success?

Never make a habit of breaking the rules. Many white-collar crimes begin with the breaking of some small, unimportant rules; this, however, tends to become a major problem as the limits are pushed increasingly further. Then there is the sense of unwillingness or shame when forced to ask someone for help: this is a necessary evil which nobody enjoys. But it can save you a significant amount of time. According to the addicted2success.com website, breaking the rules and an unwillingness to ask for help, along with stubbornness and insufficient control over one's emotions, are the most common factors limiting one's success.

You never ask for help

Obviously you don’t like asking for help; in fact, you absolutely hate doing so. You feel that you are expected to do everything yourself. You must be strong enough and independent: after all, that is what drives you forward, is it not? In reality, however, the noble idea of never ever needing anyone is not particularly useful: it may support your personal growth but sometimes a small amount of help will not go amiss.

You cannot do everything. You must know how to delegate, how to ask for information and learn how to divide responsibilities. Sharing the burden with others prevents burnout, ensures that all important things are handled much better and in the end enables you to scale up your business or department.

You are stubborn

True, this is a trait of every successful businessperson. Stubbornness is the essence of entrepreneurial spirit. But it is not only about persistence; stubbornness has its pros and cons. If you get used always to doing what you personally think is best, you may head too far in the wrong direction. The problem is that if you are too stubborn, you are not able to admit that a better way than your own may exist and change course. But that is precisely what today's business world requires: you need to be at least to some degree flexible and able to react to events. If there are more valuable gains to be made elsewhere, don’t be afraid to change your mind.

Excessive emotion

Don’t be emotionally tied to your business or department to the extent that it restricts you. You may have set up the business, nurtured it and now you love it - but beware: passion is what defines an entrepreneur but excessively intense emotions may cause you to make irrational decisions and not be in full control.

What do you think limits your success the most?
