Always keep learning

Every good manager (and employee too) needs to be learning all the time. Take an interest in the latest trends in your field and keep an eye on its development, even though it may seem to you that, due to all your managerial duties, you have no time for such things.

Know exactly what is expected of you

In order to be able to lead your team well, you need to know what is expected of both you yourself and the team. What are your goals, rights and duties? You must be quite clear about all these things.

Learn to work effectively in a team

Bizarre as it may sound, not all managers are necessarily good team players. A manager who is successful in the long run knows that in the vast majority of cases success is a collective effort; thus they are an excellent team player, giving employees space for their own initiative.

Take responsibility for yourself and your team

Do not try to make excuses when faced with failure. Accept full responsibility for your team and your own work.

Perfect your managerial soft skills

Even the best technical skills and knowledge will not help you if you are weak in the soft ones. Work on your management soft skills, such as communication, and you can make significant progress very quickly.

Keep a positive attitude

A good manager always sees opportunities where others see obstacles and problems. It is the task of a manager to maintain a positive attitude under all circumstances and motivate their team even in times of extreme crisis.

Learn to separate work and personal life

Last but not least, you must learn to switch off from work, so to speak. Find a balance between work and your personal life and keep these two worlds separate; otherwise it may happen that you will soon burn out.
