Project manager's daily bread

What should project managers do every day? This question has recently been asked by the PM Hut website which published an article summarizing the seven most important pieces of a project manager's daily bread. The first as well as the most important piece is the focus on customer needs. It is necessary to continuously focus on how the project can bring something the customer really needs. At the same time, however, it is also very important to know that what the customer really needs may not be the same thing as he says he needs. A project manager must be prepared to look for the reasons underlying his customer's requirements. He should try to get to know his customer's business as much as possible. Every day, little by little.

The other major daily activities of project managers published by PM Hut include:

Keeping promises

You cannot be successful without the trust of your customers and the members of your team.

Proactive approach

A project manager must be able to look at things from the long-term perspective, not only to react to current events.

Support to the team

Don't be afraid to ask your team what they need and how you can help. Establish regular face-to-face meetings with your people.

Delegation

Each project is based on achieving detailed activities in a specifically detailed time. However, this does not mean that you have to do all this alone.

Looking for new opportunities

Every day look for inspiration on how to streamline the processes you use to implement your projects.

Ability to keep a cool head

A project manager must expect a daily pressure to deliver something or make decisions.

When you don't feel strong in any of these areas, try to look for an appropriate training or a mentor.
