How to achieve success in life

We often try to go after what we want, yet we cannot really achieve it. Every time we fail, we feel humiliation and disappointment. Nevertheless, we should not become discouraged.

What can you do to succeed? Here are some useful tips on how to get closer to everything you want.

Decide on what you want: be explicit

Make your goals specific because goals which are too vague or too broad are not very helpful. If you just want to be "rich" or "successful", your goal is insufficiently defined.

Be specific: what do you want to achieve and by when? What do you want to do, what role do you want to take on, what kind of person do you want to become?

Be courageous

Don’t assume your goals are out of your league. Nothing is too big, nothing is impossible. Maybe you don’t have what it takes to achieve them right now; first you may need to acquire some skills and abilities. The point is that your current perception of yourself is the way it is. You need to assess realistically whether you have no chance of honing the necessary skills or if your worries are just your low self-esteem talking.

If it is somehow feasible, start taking some training or practise more – and you will get there eventually.

See yourself as the person you want to be

Self-efficacy, namely the belief one can achieve one's goals, is vital. In order to build such belief in yourself, remind yourself of your strengths and past successes. Don’t focus too much on your shortcomings, but rather on what makes you strong and worthy of respect.

Self-image is about how we view ourselves. It dictates our behaviour, actions and outcomes. Build a favourable self-image by consciously creating a visual imagery in your mind of the things you want. The main idea is to encourage yourself to challenge the comfort of the status quo. This is the conclusion of an article at addicted2success.com.
