Mental resilience

Every good manager must be mentally resilient. They cannot collapse under various pressures, but should serve as a source of strength for their subordinates during difficult times.

Patience

Change cannot be implemented overnight; even the best leadership brings transformation gradually, step by step. So a manager needs to be patient and not expect miracles from subordinates in a short space of time.

Creativity

This does not mean that managers should know how to paint, write poetry or dance. However, they should be able to approach problems from multiple perspectives and come up with original solutions.

Empathy

A manager must be able to empathise with their subordinates and, when dealing with them, willing to set aside their own ego.

Communication skills

Even the most knowledgeable and competent expert can never be an outstanding leader if they lack the essential skill of communication, something every manager must rely on daily when leading a team.

Enthusiasm for their work

An excellent manager must also possess a certain level of enthusiasm for what they do. Without it, and without passing that enthusiasm on to their team, they cannot expect their subordinates to be passionate about their own work.

Flexibility

An ideal manager must not be overly conservative. They should be prepared to accept change and adapt flexibly to new conditions as required by constant shifts in society, the labour market, and most business sectors.
