According to Forbes, today’s workers often see remote work or flexible hours as the norm. If your industry allows it, but still you do not offer at least some degree of flexibility in terms of time and location, you may find it more difficult to attract top talent.
Opportunities for growth
Most people (though not necessarily all) want to grow and develop in their careers. Offering clear opportunities for advancement, education and training will be a strong advantage in the eyes of most candidates.
Meaningful work if possible
Not everyone dreams of saving seals from climate change. However, an increasing number of people value the idea that their work has a deeper purpose, or at the very least does not actively harm society or the environment.
Financial stability
Times are (as always) uncertain. Housing and the cost of living are expensive, and people increasingly seek financial security and stability in their lives.
Authentic leadership
Today’s employees have high expectations of their leaders. Among other things, they expect authenticity, a lack of pretentiousness, and an approach that treats employees as proper human beings rather than machines.
Autonomy
Nobody wants to be micromanaged. The vast majority of people expect a certain degree of autonomy and independence in how they carry out their responsibilities.
Variety at work
Again, this may not apply to 100% of workers; however, in general, tasks that are not purely routine, but instead varied and engaging, tend to be more appealing. In today’s world, it is unrealistic to expect most employees to sit in the same spot at the same workstation doing the same task for twenty years and still be satisfied.
