Empowering employees

Teams where the manager is an autocrat cannot prosper. Therefore, every manager should try to empower their subordinates with sufficient authority so that they can work on their own and, above all, make their own decisions. A team can only thrive if decision-making powers are at least partially delegated to its members.

A shared vision

For a team to pull together and move forward as a whole, it must share a common vision. That means a common goal which it can work towards. It is the manager's job to describe and communicate this vision to the team in an attractive way.

Clearly defined processes

For the team to keep running like clockwork and not become bogged down in their daily work, they must have clearly defined processes, a kind of cookbook, to follow. Define the processes and roles in your team so that everyone knows how to work and what is expected of them.

Maintaining collective know-how

A team that wants to work sustainably and maintain its ability to respond to new challenges in the long term must be able to work with knowledge, skills and information. Above all, they have to build their own know-how and be able to archive and maintain it. This is also in case key members leave the team.
