Do not lose sight of your long-term plans

As Addicted2Success.com states, when you go through a life crisis, it is perfectly normal to focus on the here and now. You are dealing with the present and do not want to think too much about the future. But to get out of melancholy, you need to start focusing again on the future and your long-term plans.

Trust in yourself and your skills

After going through a personal crisis, it is quite common to lose confidence in oneself and one's skills. Try to write down what you have done well, what you are good at, and what lessons you can take away from the crisis.

Do not be afraid to admit to others that something is wrong

Just because you are in a managerial position does not mean you have to pretend everything is fine at all times. If you are experiencing a tough time, do not be afraid to talk about it even with subordinates. You will thus show them that you too are only human and it may serve as a helpful gesture which shows talking about mental health and difficult times in your team is perfectly acceptable.

Seek professional help if necessary

If you feel everything is just too much to handle, seek professional help. Even only a few sessions with a professional, perhaps a psychologist or coach, can work wonders.

Keep working

Work, especially if you enjoy it and find it fulfilling, can serve as an effective antidote to the crises you go through. This does not mean you should not take time off and devote some time to yourself, your family and your mental health. But try to get back to work as soon as you can.

Do things you enjoy

Everybody has different things that put them in a positive mood and boost their motivation. Whether you enjoy music, movies, sports, spending time with your family or even travelling, you should not stop doing these things, not even in times of crisis. Your favourite activities will give you energy and motivation and get you back to normal.
