If you want to be known as an expert in a certain field, you must first make clear what filed it is. If you, for example, work in sales, it will be very difficult to build your expert authority on all aspects of sales. You can, however, become an expert on selling to key customers, sales training and the like. So, answer the question: In what segment of the field you want to become an expert? Be bearers of standards

An authority knows and sets the standards in the field. You should know what behavior is excellent, normal and unacceptable.

Be current and committed

An authority knows what is going on. Watch the newcomers to your market, new technologies, new laws or the movements of companies and people.

Bring trends

Other attributes of an authority include the ability to ask questions and respond. Sometimes you will start a new industry trend by asking a right question, sometimes by giving a right answer.

Speak and publish

Introduce yourself to the public. Write expert articles or books, publish studies, blog, create videos. Provide interviews to the media, engage in professional discussions and perform at conferences.

Declare your expert position

Present as an authority to the public. It does not have to mean organizing a press conferences, start by smaller steps such as the label on your door or the despription on your website.
