Restructure your life and from now on focus on energy-boosting activities. But first, let’s list some other common sources of exhaustion.

Staying in toxic relationships which you should end

One very common source of exhaustion is frequent interaction with negative people. This can be really exhausting. Or perhaps there are certain individuals to whom you are just oversensitive: they simply know how to push your buttons and you cannot avoid them, be they colleagues or relatives. If you are in an unhappy relationship, try to end it.

Living in a hurry

If your workload demands frequent traveling, you may have the feeling time is always short and you no sooner arrive somewhere that you need to leave again. Hectic business travel schedules can be stressful.

Correct the imbalance in your life: how to gain energy

  • Spend time with your family and friends
  • Exercise or walk outdoors
  • Reading: this way is especially good since it can be done almost anywhere and can help you build empathy.

Improve your eating habits

It doesn’t matter what the source of constant pressure is, but what you can fix easily are your eating habits. Are you consuming too much fast food? Do you sometimes eat too much in order to soothe yourself and feel okay again? Don’t use food to numb the pain caused by a stressful workload: instead, deal with the causes. This is the advice in an article on the management-issues.com website which was originally published by the INSEAD business school.

If you are in a state of emergency in terms of energy, first take care of yourself before you try to help others; otherwise, you will suffer in the long term. If you admit you are not perfect and need to change something in your life, that is certainly not a sign of weakness.
