How can I be a good leader when I have bad superiors? This question affects many workers who consider their bosses as incapable, too egotistical or even unethical. Make sure you are objective

Are your superiors really so bad? Try to focus on really understanding how and why they make their decisions. It is too easy to condemn others when you maybe contributing to their bad decisions. Offer assistance

Try to help your superiors decide and behave more efficiently. Think about how you can help them look at things from different angles to better explain their decisions. Talk to them about important changes and share important information. That will help you gain more confidence among both your superiors and subordinates.

Do not complain about incompetent bosses

If you want to lose your credibility, announce that you consider a decision of your superior stupid and then start to implement it. That will send a clear signal that you have done nothing to change the actions of your superiors when you could. Aim to find something good in any decision. A good leader is creative and asks how he can meet his superiors objectives while ensuring that it will make things better at the same time. He is a role model for his people in how they can help their superiors.

If you disagree, talk to your superiors

If you must implement a decision you consider really bad or unethical, talk to the people who made it. Most superiors will listen to you. However, you must know how to express your disagreement properly. Say you would like to learn more about the purpose of the decision. You may also say that you have some questions and would like to talk about major potential consequences. If your superior do not listen to you and repeatedly refuse to discuss your opinions, consider whether or not it would be better for you to develop your leadership skills somewhere else.
