We can learn valuable insights from everyone. What can country singers add to your performance during a business presentation?

When the spotlight shines, you need to shine too

Singers use the spotlight for a reason. Everyone knows where to look when there is a spotlight. Audiences want to see someone who is comfortable.

So once you're in the spotlight, strive to look as comfortable as you can. If you're feeling good, your audience will feel it and your speech will be more beneficial for them, because they'll be able to enjoy it.

Look comfortable

An author of an article on the presentationmagazine.com website recalls a trick he learned ago as an intern at a Miami TV station. TV anchors always look so comfortable, right? So he would sit for months and months under the studio lights and practice reading the scripts in an empty studio. Such thorough training made him less nervous, so he looked quite comfortable – he was already used to that environment.

Practice in front of the room

You shouldn’t see the room for the first time when you begin your speech. Then it's too late. Put in some extra effort and go to the empty room before the presentation. Practice while standing on the spot where you'll be standing when you do it for real. Get familiar with the perspective. When you see the room for the very first time, you may look a little uncomfortable.

Country music singers look so comfortable in the spotlight because they do it all the time. They sing in front of quite empty rooms and build their resilience and confidence. Oh, and by the way, lose the preamble – no lengthy introduction. Just get going.
