The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has just published a video of a 1992 lecture by Steve Jobs in which he is talking to MIT students about topics he hadn't spoken about much in previous speeches - his own management style, recruitment, competition, or leaving Apple.
As regards recruiting, Jobs says he had to spend a long time persuading the best people to join him. This often took more than a year but it was always worth it. As a manager, he learned to resist his natural instinct to intervene as soon as he saw a mistake. He adopted a philosophy based on helping others succeed instead of fixing their mistakes.
During the lecture, Steve Jobs also speaks about conflict resolution and his preferred diplomatic approach. That means all the people involved met and talked together until they reached an agreement.
