Monster.com: Monstrous rise and fall of a job portal

Microsoft bought the professional social network LinkedIn in June 2016. The value of the transaction amounted to $ 26.2 bn. Another major acquisition on the online labor market came along two months later. The Dutch recruitment company Randstad announced in early August that it would buy Monster Worldwide. The final agreement on the takeover of the once legendary job portal Monster.com has been calculated at the total amount of $ 429 million. Yes, you did your math correctly. Randstad bought Monster for less than 2 percent of the price Microsoft paid for LinkedIn.
