Envisage success

Or picture you and your team successfully pushing through a difficult project. Changing your expectations will change your attitude as well and you will genuinely improve your chances of success.
Clearly defined aims
An important tool in keeping long-term motivation is a clear definition of the goals you are aiming at. Have both short-term and long-term goals written down and defined, and keep them in mind during your everyday activities. Also, clearly communicate to subordinates what specific aims they should focus on, and what you are trying to achieve as a team.
Dividing a task or project into smaller steps
If you have a complex task ahead of you, divide it into smaller chunks and focus on these. This applies both to you personally and how you organise the work of your team. Forget about the monumental task ahead of you, and keep your mind busy thinking about the small tasks you are doing.
Emotional intelligence
Good managers have strong emotional intelligence. This means, among other things, that they know their emotions, they know how to work with them and are not just their victims. Learn to recognise what makes you happy and how you can calm down in moments of stress, and thus get your emotions under control.
