Mutual trust

According to the website Selling Power, mutual trust among the team members is the alpha and omega of the success of the whole group. People have to be able to trust each other, be willing to help one another and rely on the skills of others. This applies not only to the relationships among team members, but also to their relationships with the manager.

Common vision

Any team that wishes to work together for a common goal must have a shared vision. One of the main tasks of a manager is to make the team excited about what that goal is and their vision.

Teamwork

A quality team is capable of making use of the strengths of the individual team members. Each person has some sort of expertise, everyone excels at something, and a group that functions well together will make use of these strengths when working on shared projects. Quality communication is also extremely important in teamwork – it has to be quick, open and trouble-free.

Give people space to be empowered

If the team members are micromanaged by their manager, the team as a whole can never achieve its full potential. As time goes on and they gain more experience, people have to be given more and more space to do things on their own. This of course means they will also be more accountable for their parts in the project.

Adequate rewards

A good team cannot do without adequate rewards that reflect hard work and extra effort. If team members are not rewarded properly, they soon lose their zeal and after some time the team as a whole will lose motivation and productivity.
