How to keep your nerve in managerial work

Managers, similarly to sports coaches, should be strict and sometimes even yell. If a manager constantly yells, however, he loses attention and respect of others. What to do when you begin to feel that you can keep your nerve no longer?

Vent your frustration in private

Do not lose control in front of your team. Whether you need to sit down and breathe deeply or even yell out the window, do it in private.

Think about consequences

After the initial ventilation of your anger, start to think about next steps. How do you want to motivate your team to concentrate on the work at hand?

Talk with your team

Callyour people together as soon as possible and allow them to share their views on the current situation. Focus on specific actions for the future and do not hesitate to apologize for any loss of nerve.

Do something special for your team

Apologize to those who you yelled at and make a special gesture to remedy. Invite them for a lunch or help them catch approaching deadlines.

Managers should not try to be friends of their subordinates but they should maintain decency and respect.
