Do you know your goals?

If we want to succeed, we must have specific goals. We must know exactly what we want to achieve and how we will do it. That is at least what Craig Jarow, American consultant, publicist and author of the successful book Time Management Ninja, reminds of on his website. He presents ten questions we should ask and be able to answer in relation to our goals.

1. Have you written your goals?

When you write down your goals, you will make them real. You will realize what you actually want.

2. Are the goals really your goals?

Make sure that you are not just chasing for goals your family, employer or society expects from you unless you want it yourself.

3. Do you know when you want to meet your goals?

Goals without clear time boundaries are not successful. You need clear deadlines.

4. Do you know the cost of meeting your goals and are you willing to pay it?

Think what meeting the goals will cost you in terms of money, time, effort, etc., and whether it is realistic for you to manage it.

5. Who can help you?

You will need the help and support of others to achieve most of your goals. Plan who and how can help you in advance.

6. Can you stay focused on your goals?

Consider whether you do not have too many goals at once or whether you are not paying more attention to  everything else but your big goal. Your goal should be in the center of your life.

7. Are your goals flexible?

You have to count with the fact that life brings changes and your goals will have to adapt. Your goals should be set so that you do not have to give them up.

8. Will your goals help you learn something new?

When you set only similar goals as you have previously met, you will not learn much new. You should look for goals to help you in your personal development.

9. Do you have trust in your goals?

Keep in mind that there will be doubters and other people who will directly discourage you from your goals. You have to believe in yourself or you cannot achieve anything.

10. What have you done for your goal today?

You should work on your goals every day. Step by step.
