Office hours are out

According to Business News Daily it is apparently the end of the time when office jobs have fixed working hours. Nowadays, people are mobile and can be available at any time thanks to mobile technologies and the Internet. This makes them feel less stressed and more productive. These are the results of a survey of the Wired magazine in collaboration with Marriott Hotels and Resorts.

Respondents, most of whom were well-educated males, reported that mobility is important for them. Most of them works from home (84%), hotel or a local cafe. Almost a third said they often work between locations, for example in airports or in airport lounges.

Working remotely reduces stress and increases productivity. Almost half of the respondents stated that they were more productive when working away from the office, 49% felt less stressed.

The downside of working from home is the lack of support services.

Ideal place for remote working should, according to the respondents, include high-speed Internet connection, charging station for electronic devices, privacy, comfortable furniture and ideally the environment should be quiet.
