How to become a top manager

Are you an experienced manager who would like to get promoted from middle to top management? Then you need charisma, ambition, determination and ingenuity. Mashable.com recently asked an executive search company to share its recommendations on this topic. It summarized the following qualities and skills as prerequisites for entering the highest levels of corporate management.

You need a lot of energy

The environment of top management is quick, complex and unforgiving. To achieve success, you need huge amounts of energy. A manager who wants to advance to the top flight should be prepared for anything. He should voluntarily ask for new projects above and beyond his job requirements and not worry about tackling difficult situations.

You have to be creative

If a company wants to thrive, it must constantly improve and develop. The role of top managers is to promote and personally create growth. That requires creativity, and you can get into the habit right now. Focus on the question of what you can do in your current position to improve the results of your business. Show your clients and superiors that you deserve a promotion.

You must be able to count

A top manager must be aware of the company's financial situation and that of its customers. Therefore, the sooner you learn to think using financial benchmarks, the better. Do you know the bottom line of your department or the whole company? What could be improved?

Do not hide your ambitions

On the contrary, be open in saying that you have ambition and want to get an opportunity to move to a higher managerial level in the company. Talk about it with your employer and inquire about the possibility of doing so. While this may be a sensitive topic, manage it with humility. Either you get the support you need, or at least learn that you can't count on a promotion.

Keep on learning

Do not get stuck on what you already know and can do. In contrast, actively look for new experiences even if it is not easy or comfortable at first.
