How to build your personal brand on the Internet

When applying for a new job as a manager or as an experienced professional, your potential employers will probably look you up on the Internet. Therefore, unless your name is John Smith and you cannot be clearly identified, you should take your professional online image seriously. 1. Go to a photographer

You will need a professional photo. Any photo made using a mobile phone can't represent you well enough, especially when you took the picture yourself. You do not have to pay exorbitant sums, but it is important to choose a professional whose previous work appeals to you. Choose one professional photo and use it on all online platforms as your unique logo.

2. Start a blog

Use an online service such as Wordpress.com which is free and is able to place your blog at the top of search results in search engines. Write about the latest news in your field and add your own observations. Work with keywords and update your blog regularly.

3. Start using Twitter and Facebook

Create profiles on these social networks including your name, description of your activities and the link to your blog. Then start sharing posts from your blog. Not only do you get more readers, but you will also win a better position in the search engines.

4. Do not omit Google+

Creating your profile on the Google+ social network is not useless even if you have already created profiles on Facebook and Twitter. It offers a number of benefits for your position in the search results when using Google. Google evaluates the popularity of authors, which can move you up in the results and closer to potential employers. When you link your blog to your Google+ account, your professional photo will be displayed right next to your blog in the search results.

5. Join the professional network LinkedIn

Create a profile summarizing your work-related history, successful projects and connect it to your blog. Start following attractive employers and become a member of relevant discussion groups. Share only professional content and avoid direct advertising (unless you pay for advertising in the specified advertising zones).
