  • Automobile production in 2017 grew faster than Czech industry as a whole again, supporting the growth of the entire Czech economy. The production of passenger cars continues to dominate the Czech automotive industry. These are the data of the Czech Automotive Industry Association (AutoSAP) from January to December 2017.

"These very favorable results of the automotive industry are influenced by the positive development of the European and world economy and the growing consumer demand for vehicles in the Czech Republic and in Europe. The automotive industry, given its importance in the Czech economy, was an essential part of its dynamic growth which, according to analysts, reached about 4.5% in 2017," said Bohdan Wojnar, AutoSAP President.

In 2018, however, the growth rate of the Czech economy is expected to slow by about 1%, as in Europe and other markets. This year's decline in the growth in the Czech automotive industry will, according to Wojnar, be mainly related to labor market tensions. The growth of production will not exceed 5%.
