Recruiters advise managers on how to work together when recruiting people for their team

Effective recruitment requires teamwork between recruiters and the managers that are looking for new people for their teams. Not always, however, will recruiters enjoy such accommodating behaviour and such interest from managers as they would require to correctly occupy the position at issue. Recruiter server ere.net therefore came up with some advice for team managers on how to work better with recruiters.

1. Inform recruiters of vacancies as soon as possible

The sooner recruiters learn that a new position has been approved for your team, the sooner they will be able to meet you to find out who you are looking for and the higher the quality of candidates they will find you.

2. Respond to recruiters’ e-mails and phone calls

Recruiters understand that you are busy. But that does not mean you should make it clear that recruiting new people for your team does not interest you at all. Reply as soon as you can.

3. Respond fast to the CVs sent

Most good candidates are not likely to wait long for your reaction. So try to respond to the CVs that recruiters provide you with right away.

4. Make sure you have a quality team of people to represent you at interviews

A candidate’s first impression of the company is crucial. What is more, that candidate might one day become your customer or business partner. Those representing your team that are to take part in interviews should therefore always be prepared in advance and be familiar with the position on offer and with the CVs of the candidates.

5. Tell the recruiters of the next steps you want to take

After interviews, talk to recruiters about their impressions and suggestions of how to proceed. Recruiters cannot keep candidates interested forever if you don’t reply in time.

6. Only ask questions relating to the position to be occupied

Remember that during interviews you should only ask about the candidate’s experience and questions relating to their ability to do the job on offer. Do not put the company at risk of problems with the law.

7. Learn how to sell the company to candidates

A manager is of more importance to a candidate than a recruiter during an interview. So it is the manager that should win him over in the way he presents the company.

8. Help recruiters convince the candidate chosen to opt for you

Good candidates will probably have more than one offer. Without the help of the managers, recruiters might not be able to convince them when they are making their final decision. If a recruiter asks you to attend a meeting or interview with such a candidate, do not refuse.

9. Leave discussions on specific conditions to the recruiters

Recruiters are specialists in negotiating specific conditions of cooperation. So let them do their jobs.
