The new Czech Public Procurement Act

The new amendment to the Czech Public Procurement Act the amendment of which is to make the spending of public funds in the Czech Republic more transparent has been effective since 1 April 2012. The Ministry for Regional Development summarized the most significant changes  in the press release here.

- The thresholds for public supply contracts and public service contracts has been reduced to CZK 1 million and to CZK 3 million for construction work contracts.

- A new concept of "significant public tender" has been introduced for state bodies as the contracting parties with contracts worth at least CZK 300 milion and for local or municipal bodies as the contracting parties with contracts worth at least CZK 50 million.

- If the contracting authority receives less than two bids, the public tender process will have to be cancelled.
